In order to take advantage of edonkey's ability to d/l from multiple sources at the same time and maintain reasonable d/l speed for everyone there are some rules that we all should follow:

1. Please leave your PC connected at all time if possible.

2. After you d/l a file, please keep the file on your HD as long as possible. Chances are good that others will want to d/l the same file you just downloaded.

That's all for now, feel free to add your ideas/suggestions below.

add the^m la`:

-we should follow some kinna format to name our file so participants can find it or read it easily.

for instant:
if movie then
ripper_name of movie_cd1.mpg
if mp3 then
name of cd_01name of song.mp3

Yes, this is my post from vietcyber:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Topic: PLEASE READ: Naming conventions for shared files in edonkey

Since edonkey doesn't support directory structure, before sharing files in edonkey, please check the files to see if they're descriptive and unique. If not, please rename them first. I've seen files like AVESEQ01.DAT, AVESEQ02.DAT ... being shared I have no idea what they are!

Also there are mp3s with just the song names and I don't know which songs go with what albums.

This is the convention I use:

Production#_AlbumName_CD#_Song#_SongTitle

for example:

AsiaKaraoke5_MotLanNuaThoi_CD1.mpg
or
TNCD269_MenSayTinhAi_01_VutDiChuTinh.mp3

This way if I do a search on AsiaKaraoke5 or TNCD269, I will get all the files that belong together.

I had a list of tips and tricks posted at vietcyber but it got lost thru the software upgrade, I'm too lazy too type it up again but here's a quick tip:

When picking a file to d/l, the higher the Availability the quicker the download will be. The Availability column tells you how many people has that file. If many has it then you can d/l from many hence it will go faster.

Currently I'm downloading VoSay-A at 50KB/s ... wowow :)

Is there liked an option somewhere to tell you that whose file it's that you are downloading from just in case you have an incomplete download and that file is not available anymore.

Tex, under Downloads tab, click on the + next to the filename. It will expand to show you who you're getting it from.
