I've tried installing linux so many times, but ended up getting rid of it, just because i can't watch my video files on it. Anyone know any easy to install codecs for linux?
have you tried VideoLAN from http://www.videolan.org/ yet?
i use it one in a while
you need to download the library first and then compile from the source code... I couldn't find the rpm file for redhat so I compiled with the source... it works just fine... if you run mandrake or debian... then just a few commands... to make it to work :p

G,
it's the compiling that made me pluck my hair. i tried getting the codec and compiled it, but since the libraries aren't there, it made me go look for the the lib and install it, but then the lib needed other lib which seems like a chain of missing lib...
and as a result, i litter my floor with hair (not literally)
but divx is still not working. :(
can you give me the direct links to the files that i need to download. order to install. compilation command line.
i know you're a busy man (>4000 posts), so if you can do it whenever you free and fully rested that would be awesome :)
Thanks for the previous advices though, G

could you paste the result when you try to compile it? I got the same thing when the first time compiling that thing but ... after that I downloaded the lib from the same website... and it works beautifully....
http://www.videolan.org/pub/libdvdplay/1.0.0/rpm/
http://www.videolan.org/pub/libdvdcss/1.2.5/rpm/
I think that is the ones...
